2008 Carnival Spirit Tour
Recently I went to Vancouver for the Cruise-A-Thon an event that is held annually on the west coast. There was a Carnival Spirit Tour. This includes a ship inspection and lunch onboard.
Yes, the very same cruise ship our
Country Music Group
will be sailing on Jan7, 2009. Along with the gang from the Great Canadian Barn Dance. Enjoy listening to Country music, line dancing & two-stepping onboard the Fun Ship.
Our Carnival Spirit tour started at the top of the ship where we saw:
- Spa Carnival; Gymnasium, Aerobics room, Health club & Beauty Salon
- Swimming pools – 4 of them! Whirlpools – 5, a Spiral water slide, the jogging track, Shuffleboard
- Fun House – a children’s play room, with art & crafts centre, computer lab, outdoor play area with jungle gyms, mini- basketball hoops & much more!
Next we looked at the public spaces and meeting rooms:
- Lobby, Purser’s Information Desk, Internet Library, Photo Studio, Card room, Conference Room, Fashion Boulevard shops and Chapel
- Pharaoh’s Show Lounge - seats 1167
- *Versailles Lounge *– seats 348
*Remember this one, it’s where we will be listening to country music of the Great Canadian Barn Dance band, country dancing and
Country Music
- Jazz Club, Dance Club, Piano Bar, Cool Club,
- Champions’ Bar, the Fountain Café & Deco Lounge
- Casino
*** Smokers – here are the locations where smoking is allowed! *** Casino, Champions’ Bar, Fountain Café, Club Cool, Shanghai Piano Bar, Deco Lounge and the Dancing’ Dance Club
Are you still following along? Remember we are seeing this on a tour all in an hour and half!
We then looked at the various staterooms; Suites with extended balconies or large private balconies, Staterooms with balconies, Physically challenged staterooms, Obstructed staterooms, Ocean view and Interior.
Whew, it is a rush and believe me we are certainly ready for our lunch!
Come and join me as we experience the Empire Restaurant. With seating for 1338 guests on two levels the style is Napoleon or early 19th century French flair.
Ladies for me this is the nicest part of the cruise. I realize for some of the guys it’s painful to get dressed up, ahh but it's worth it!
Every evening I look forward to being served a fine meal and enjoy the company of the others guests at the table. Sharing the events of the day and meeting new people is wonderful. For the evening meal you will be seated at the same table each time.
The view to the ocean was thru large circular windows bordered with embossed shapes of fruit and flowers. Above, the crystal chandeliers and a grand circular staircase this all provided an elegant atmosphere to enjoy a delicious meal provided by the friendly Carnival staff.
The Empire Restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nouveau Supper Club – Restaurant and Bar is with reservations only.
Just want great food with out all the fuss?
La Playa Grille is the answer.
- Self serve casual dining for; breakfast-lunch-dinner
- Asian counter
- deli counter
- grill
- late night buffet
- 24 hr coffee/tea
- 24 hr soft ice cream/yogurt
- 24 hr pizzeria!
Too soon, it was time to disembark as this cruise ship was on its way to Alaska. As we left through the ships’ security passage the new guests we excitedly boarding and probably thinking who are all these crazy people getting off. Believe me if we could have stayed onboard the beautiful Carnival Spirit Cruise ship we would have!
