Celebrate Your Breakthroughs!
Feature Articles: By Liz Pabon
Have you noticed that whenever you're about to make a big leap, you feel pulled back into your past?
I caught myself telling my 'hand on the door' story a few times this week because so many of the clients I work with have a burning desire to be great...to do something grand through their business.
Yet, just as they get ready to turn the knob to step into their best they hear the whispers of their past; "they're all going to reject you," "you'll never pull this off," "who do you think you are?" and the list of false truths go on and on.
You see, the 'she' in you has her hand on the door to your next evolution. And 'she' can't wait to walk through it. The challenge is that in order for you to actually turn the knob and step through that door, you have to be willing to release your inner monsters.
All the lies you've told yourself or the lies told to you about your inability to be grand will now come at you fast and fierce. Your job at this point is to recognize that your inner 'she' has 100% power and control. The power to stare down your monsters and realize (once and for all) that you no longer need them.
Like any other 'bully' situation, the moment you face down your fears they dissolve as quickly as an alka-seltzer tablet, which you'll no longer need to quiet your nervous stomach!
Make no doubt about it you'll be unable to step into your next level of success if you don't release the past. Put another way, you can't take the dark of your past into the light of your future. Something's gotta go!
With your inner monsters gone, you will not only walk through the door to your next stage of success you'll also close the door of your past and begin a whole new leg of your journey.
And on this day, the 'she' in you must be celebrated for her strength and courage.
If you aren't doing this already, plan your next Breakthrough Party! Each time I reach a new plateau of success, I celebrate. Your celebration can merely be enjoying or treating yourself to those pleasures you normally reserve for a 'special occasion.'
Your breakthrough is special and is cause for party hats and blow horns! And, it is one way to fully step into and LIVE the power of your brand.
Reward the 'she' in you and you'll discover she has more muscle than any monster lurking in the shadows of your past.

Align Your Heart and Head
By Liz Pabon
They're going to find out I'm just not good enough...
As I walked the halls of corporate America I was petrified that all the mucky muck's would find out I didn't have as much 'paper' as the other candidates for the Director position.
I remember having this need to find all sorts of evidence that I would fail and discovered that even the guy in the mail room had an MBA! Why he was in the mail room is another story altogether...
And yet here I was, vying for one of the coveted positions in my company and thought I was nuts to even throw my hat in the ring. I made up a list of all the reasons why I would not be chosen for the position. And most of those reasons involved credentials and lack of belief in my abilities.
I can't tell you how many sleepless nights I had. How many nights I droned on and on to my friends over my unfortunate plight. You know you have true friends when they're willing to sit through your nonsense day in and day out!
There were even times I felt certain I botched the days of interviews and on-the-spot presentations.
In the end, I got the job.
And do you know the number one reason why I was chosen...because I had great passion and was sharp as a tack.
As I went through the interview process (despite my insecurity), my heart and my head were perfectly aligned.
Not one person questioned my credentials. Not one person asked if I attended an Ivy League college. Not one person, frankly, gave a damn about that. It was I that spun a slew of untruths.
The lesson I learned so many years ago is a lesson that many of my clients grapple with today as they re-direct and re-position their brand. And what they struggle with is the fear that they don't have the right pedigree to share their passion and purpose with others through their business.
The 'she' in you possesses an incredible gift and it's that gift that will position you with great power in business (and life).
It is your great passion (your heart), street smarts (your head) and commitment to your purpose that will do all the heavy lifting for you. Certifications, alumni status and any access to privileged 'clubs' are merely the icing on the cake.
So instead of looking for evidence that you may not have the right qualifications, look instead for evidence that you are living your purpose. Because, from one 'she' to another, when you live your purpose, everything falls into place beautifully.
